About Kane

just a little bit of a nerd

i have always had a passion for science, technology and all things... well... generally geeky.

i love my sci-fi movies and shows, my fantasy novels, i subscribe to geekologie and a heap of other generally nerdy sites - and i love it. from doctor who to metaphysics - if it requires thought, i'll dig it.

i graduated with a bachelor of biomedical science with honours in biochemistry and molecular biology in 2006, went on to start a phd (postponed) before becoming a paramedic through the ambulance service of nsw. since then i have commenced studies with monash university's gippsland medical school in the hopes of one day becoming an emergency physician.

time will tell...

kane as a medico

i first began my fascination with the human body and its ability to heal itself by watching murder mystery tv shows as a child. since then i have had a brief career in medical research, had several years experience as a front line paramedic and am now undergoing the final step in my progression towards becoming a true medical professional by studying medicine with monash university's gippsland medical school.

while i am still in (very) early days, my adventures in the field provide me with many learning opportunities essential for the years to come.

i thank those who have brought me this far and welcome those who will join me along the way - it's going to be a hell of a ride!

all work and no play

while i am well known for throwing myself into my work, i try to keep a good social life going (even if it's just with those i work with... *cough*).

i enjoy fine red wines, cheap red wines, music from classical to progressive metal, a laugh amongst friends and the simple comforts of a well made coffee first thing in the morning.

i apologise to those who have to deal with me before my morning coffee...

i am always up for making new friends and catching up with old - admittedly i have a poor history with the latter due to being a work-a-holic, but i hope they always know if they ever need me i'll be there in a heart beat.

especially if it's an interesting rhythm...
